About WildFlowers

WildFlowers is a nature park that serves as a place for enjoyment of the outdoors as well as music, dance, the arts, and wellness activities. The 270-acre property is one mile south of Melrose, in the heart of North Florida. At the intersection of four counties, Melrose has a long history of agriculture, creative arts, entrepreneurship, and lakefront living.

The nature park has a 2.5-mile loop trail through five distinct Florida ecosystems open to the public. The land is a gently rolling mosaic of upland meadows, mixed hardwood forests, and wetlands that range from small sinkholes to bottomland swamps to a 10-acre ephemeral sandhill lake. WildFlowers is more than a name – many species of native wildflowers will be actively propagated on the site as a seed source for regional land conservation projects. WildFlowers is also the title of an album and song by local music legend Tom Petty.

Mission and Board

At WildFlowers, our mission is to restore the land, inspire connection, and nurture community through nature, music, and education. We believe that conservation and creativity belong together – that a healthy landscape feeds a healthy culture. By blending ecological restoration with art, education, and outdoor experiences, we’re creating a place where people of all ages can explore, celebrate, and care for the natural world. Every trail, performance, and workshop here is part of a living classroom – one that grows wilder, wiser, and more beautiful each year.

Our Board is composed of community members who are passionate about our mission and dedicated to the proposition of building community through nature conservation and community celebration. Board members are Guy Forchion (President), Eli Collins (Vice President), Andy Kane (Treasurer), Kathy Colverson (Secretary), Larry Easton, Trey Herb, Susan Marynowski, and Robert Hutchinson (Ex Officio).
